Android 7.1.2 Nougat Update Lets you Choose Where to Display Live Wallpapers - Google has released Android 7.1.2 Nougat developer preview at the beginning of this week, but it’s not a minor upgrade, as it was initially thought. First, it was discovered that Pixel’s fingerprint gesture was brought to the Nexus 5X and now a new feature has surfaced. It’s related to live wallpapers and it allows users to choose where to set them.
The public beta of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat
update was released for devices that are part in the Android Beta Program and currently, it’s available to Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, and Pixel C, but soon, it will arrive to Nexus 6P as well. Users will need to wait a few months until the final form of Android 7.1.2 Nougat will be ready to the aforementioned devices.
The update fixed many bugs and brought optimizations, as well as a few changes. According to Droid-Life, users who upgraded to Android 7.1.2 Nougat have discovered that they were able to decide where to put the live wallpaper. It seems that this feature appeared in earlier Android versions and by default, live wallpapers were applied to both home screen and lock screen. In the new build, users can put them wither on the home screen or on the home screen and lock screen.
So, in order to set a live wallpaper, tap and hold an empty space from the home screen, tap wallpapers and a category labeled Live will appear. Choose the desired wallpaper, then set in Home Screen/Home Screen and Lock Screen. If you don’t see these two options, it means that your device doesn’t have this feature yet and maybe you need to install the latest version of Google Play Services.
As for the swipe for notifications gesture that was introduced on Pixel phones and now it’s available to Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P devices, it can be enabled by going to the Settings menu > Moves.
